When we can sit with our feelings and examine our thoughts we have an increased ability to understand our decisions and behaviors as well as the choices that are available to us. We utilize a non judgmental and warm approach to fully understand where clients are in their journey. We believe our clients present us with an enormous gift by sharing their vulnerabilities and strengths; we take therapy seriously and hope that each session is productive and our clients leave with a broader understanding of themselves. We openly welcome clients of color, immigrants, queer and trans* clients, and clients of all genders.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy–Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. Numerous research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life. In many studies, CBT has been demonstrated to be as effective as, or more effective than, other forms of psychological therapy or psychiatric medications.
- Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization (EMDR) therapist–EMDR is an evidence based treatment for PTSD. By using bilateral stimulation (usually eye movements) traumatic experiences are integrated and fully processed resulting in a reduction in disturbing memories, present triggers and other symptoms of anxiety, depression, and physical reactions. - Internal Family Systems trained– IFS is a transformative tool that conceives of every human being as a system of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core Self. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal. Learn more here
- Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy–an evidence based practice for treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in children and adolescents. Learn more here.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy–an evidence based practice for creating a life worth living and increasing skills for emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, and distress tolerance. I am able to provide this to adults and adolescents. Learn more here.
- Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) is the evidence-based, trauma-informed, neurodiversity affirming model of care that helps caregivers focus on identifying the problems that are causing concerning behaviors in kids and solving those problems collaboratively and proactively. The model is a departure from approaches emphasizing the use of consequences to modify concerning behaviors. This model draws from the work of Ross Green, who outlines his model in the Explosive Child book
- Relational Life Therapy–Terry Real’s model for working with couples by helping them heal their relational trauma and forge fiercely intimate connections with others. Learn more here
